Profession LogoATTORNEY

Shawn Weera, JD, MFP, the President of the firm, is a nationally recognized asset protection expert who has assisted thousands of families in growing, preserving and protecting their assets. As a licensed elder law attorney in private practice for over a decade, he has been helping retirees protect their assets through efficient and wise planning for over 15 years.

Shawn currently practices in the areas of estate planning, Medicaid planning, and veterans benefits planning, providing strategic solutions in the following areas: Protecting assets from nursing home and long-term care expenses, avoiding and/or eliminating probate and estate taxes, reducing and/or eliminating taxes on income and social security, maximizing returns on investment assets (while minimizing risk exposure) and helping wartime veterans and their spouses receive special benefits to help pay for in-home care. Believing that each individual’s case is unique, Shawn listens carefully to understand each person’s goals, shunning any ‘cookie-cutter’ approach to planning. The end result for each client is a unique and highly implementable set of strategies providing long-term security and peace of mind.

Shawn received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from California State University, Los Angeles, and his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. He is a member in good standing of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, the National Association of Financial and Estate Planning, the American Academy of Financial Management, the National Ethics Bureau, and the Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan. Shawn is also a member of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association.
